World sees large rises in food prices
    Nigeria Sun
    Thursday 2nd September, 2010

The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization has ascertained that food is now costing more than it has since September 2008.

Prices have risen to 176 points on the FAO’s food price index; a five percent lift.

Wheat prices have been blamed for most of the rises, following drought in the Russian Federation.

Other drivers of food prices included higher sugar and oilseed prices.
