Tunisia reach quarters in African Nations Cup
    Nigeria Sun
    Saturday 28th January, 2012
    (IANS)

Tunisia's Carthage Eagles qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Nations Cup after beating Niger 2-1 in Libreville, Gabon.

Tunisia beat Morocco in 2-1 Monday, becoming the first team in group C to qualify for the last 8, Xinhua reported.

Tunisia opened the score when striker Youssef Msakni dribbled past two Niger players, scoring the first goal in the 4th minute of the game. However, Niger counter-attacked five minutes later and Ngounou equalized with a header in the 9th minute.

As Niger regained confidence, Tunisia seemed to lose its impetus. After a number of missed opportunities for both teams, substitute Issam Jemaa struck a last-gasp winner to help Tunisia move a step closer to the African Nations Cup title.
